Les meilleurs rosés français

Brussels World Competition: where are the best French rosés?

Like every year, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has produced a ranking of the best rosé wines in the world. For its 2023 edition, the international wine competition highlighted 1,200 wines, produced in 25 different participating countries. Let's find out which are the best French rosés , and which wine regions have received the most medals.

Rosé wine: global consumption on the rise

Numerous competitions are organized around the world to reward the best red wines, white wines and rosé wines. This March 20, 2023, rosé wines were in the spotlight at the Brussels World Competition . It must be said that the wine with its pretty pink color continues to seduce. Often synonymous with summer, warmth and relaxation, rosé wine can be found at all tables and all aperitifs.

Global consumption of rosé is thus clearly increasing, with an increase of 40% between 2018 and 2022. Today, nearly 26 million hectoliters of rosé are tasted each year, in France and around the world. And among the largest consumers of rosé, we note the countries of Western Europe, as well as the United States.

Languedoc-Roussillon, the producer of the best rosé wines in the world

Among the major international wine events , the Brussels World Competition is a benchmark for rosé wine. In total, 55 tasters gathered in optimal tasting conditions to evaluate the greatest rosé wines in the world . No less than 356 silver and gold medals were distributed, and a ranking of the best wine regions was drawn up.

And for this year again, French wine producers have something to be proud of, and in particular Languedoc-Roussillon , which emerges as the big winner of this international competition . It must be said that of the 91 vintages of Pays d'Oc IGP wines subjected to the rigor of the tasters, 26 obtained a medal. Of the 26 award-winning samples, we distinguish:

  • 13 silver medals;
  • 10 gold medals;
  • 3 large gold medals.

The IGP Pays d'Oc once again confirms its position as the leading producer of rosé wines in France , but it also attests to the quality of its wines. And if you want to push your curiosity to the point of wanting to participate in a wine tasting of the award-winning samples, here are the 3 big winners:

  • La Réserve Saint-Marc 2022 from Domaine de Corneille from Vignobles Foncalieu;
  • Grain d’Oc Grenache – Syrah Organic 2022 from the Castel Frères Group;
  • L'Amour de Gris from Domaine Grand Chemin.

The award-winning rosé wines of the MDCV group

The MDCV group has also participated in numerous competitions, and even if it was not present at the world competition in Brussels, the renowned tasters were able to distinguish the typicity of the vintages, rewarding several of our vintages:

The Brussels World Competition is one of the important events in the world of wine, and particularly for rosé wine. Once again, France proves its expertise, its know-how and its tradition, by producing the best rosés in the world.
